Agawam and Feeding Hills Revisited (MA) (Images of America)
The second volume to chronicle Agawam’s rich history, Agawam and Feeding Hills Revisited pays close attention to the people who lived and worked in Agawam, from schoolchildren, farmers, police officers, business owners, and mill workers to aeronautical engineer Bob Hall, who designed the ill-fated Bulldog and Cicada racers. Agawam was incorporated as a town in 1855, but its history began with the construction of the first house in 1635. The charm of this town has been preserved here with nearly two hundred vintage images and compelling text.

War As I Knew It

The personal and candid account of General Patton’s celebrated, relentless crusade across western Europe during World War II

First published in 1947, War as I Knew It is an absorbing narrative that draws from Patton’s vivid memories of battle and his detailed diaries, covering the moment the Third Army exploded onto the Brittany Peninsula to the final Allied casualty report. The result is not only a grueling, human account of daily combat and heroic featsâ??including a riveting look at the Battle of the Bulgeâ??but a valuable chronicle by one of the most brilliant military strategists in history. Patton’s letters from earlier military campaigns in North Africa and Sicily, complemented by a powerful retrospective of his guiding philosophies, further reveal a man of uncompromising will and uncommon character, which made “Georgie” a household name in mid-century America.

Carols by Candlelight (The Riverside Choir at the Riverside Church in the City of New York)

This holiday choral CD was recorded at the famous Riverside Church in New York. The repertoire is a mix of music representing various musical cultures, something very reflective of Riverside’s music program.

Director of Music Tim Smith skillfully conducts the choir in works by Mathias, Bairstow, Rutter, Willan, Victoria and many others. Organ accompaniments and the Craig Phillips organ Toccata on Joy to the World are played with great panache by Associate Music Director and Organist Christopher Johnson.
